Bikash Bhattacharya or Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya (Bengali বিকাশ রন্জন ভট্টাচার্যা) is the present mayor of Kolkata (2005-2010 session), heading Kolkata municipal corporation, in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Short biography

Bikash Bhattacharya hails from the Kalighat region of Kolkata.[1] He joined the Communist Party of India (Marxist) as a student. He is a lawyer by profession. He took over the reins of Kolkata from the outgoing Mayor Subroto Mukherjee of Trinamool Congress party.
