Barbizon is a village and a commune of the Seine-et-Marne département, in France, located near the Fontainebleau Forest.
DemographicsThe inhabitants are called Barbizonais. As of the census of 1999, there where 1,490 people residing in the village. MiscellaneousThe Barbizon school of painters is named after the village; Théodore Rousseau and Jean-François Millet, leaders of the school, made their homes and died in the village.
