The VIII Biobío Region (Spanish: VIII Región del Biobío) is one of Chile's 15 first order administrative divisions. Its capital is Concepción whiich is the main city of Greater Concepcion conurbation, the second largest urban agglomeration in Chile. It comprises four provicenes, and is the second most important region of in the country, after the metropolitan area of Santiago. It is bordered to the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the east by Argentina, on the north by Maule Region, and on the south by Araucanía Region.
