Bátonyterenye is a town in Nógrád county, Hungary.

Bátonyterenye was created in 1984 by the unification of three villages (Nagybátony, Kisterenye, Szúpatak). The new settlement became a city in 1989. Bátonyterenye was a typical socialist mining city.
