Avesnes is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France.

It should not be confused with Avesnes-le-Comte, seat of another canton in the Arras arrondissement of the Pas-de-Calais, or with Avesnes-sur-Helpe, in the arrondissement of the same name in the Nord department.

The commune is a very small village situated some 12 miles(19km) northeast of Montreuil-sur-Mer, on the D 129 E 1.
