Archena is a municipality of Spain in the autonomous community and province of Murcia. It has a population of 16,707 (2006) and an area of 16.5 km². It is 24 km from the provincial capital, Murcia.
Archena is home to a wonderful hot water mineral Spa, dating back to Roman Times and has 3 wonderfully traditional Spanish hotels built around it.
Whilst undergoing recent development, further Roman Ruins were found on the site of the Spa, which are now being painstakingly excavated, with minimal disruption to visitors.
It has also recently been used as a location for the forthcoming movie re-make of Ernest Hemingway's Garden of Eden, starring Jack Huston, Richard E. Grant and Mena Suvari.
