The Rt Rev Anthony Crockett (c. 1950 – June 2008) was the Anglican Bishop of Bangor1 from 2004 until his death in 2008. Born on 23 August 1945, he was educated at Pontypridd Grammar School2 and King’s College London before embarking on a clerical career. Ordained in 1971 he began his ministry with a curacies at Aberdare and Whitchurch (Cardiff). From 1978 until 1986 he was Vicar at Llanafan Y Trawsgoed then Rector of Dowlai before an eight year stint as Secretary of the Board of Ministry of the Church in Wales. A fluent Welsh speaker,3 his final post before his elevation to the episcopate was as Archdeacon of Carmarthen.4
