Anne Elizabeth Ramsay (born September 11, 1960) is an American actress best known for her role as Lisa Stemple on Mad About You, for which she shared a Best Ensemble in a Comedy series for the Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.

Early life

Ramsay was born in Los Angeles County, California1 and raised in Southern California.2 She studied theater at UCLA and graduated with a baccalaureate. She worked with an acting group called The Continum, which featured UCLA alumni, through the acting group she got her big break and an agent.

Film credits

She has many notable feature credits including A League of Their Own and Planet of the Apes.

Television credits

Anne Ramsay is known for her role as Lisa Stemple on the series Mad About You, the lovable, spacey, perpetually single sister of Jamie Buchman (Helen Hunt) . Ramsay has made numerous TV show guest appearances on such series as Six Feet Under, Chicago Hope, CSI, Dharma & Greg, Mysterious Ways, The L Word and The WB series, Related. She was a guest actress on the Fox series, House on April 3, 2007. Other appearances include two on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

She can also be seen in the music video by rock band Mr. Big entitled, "Goin' Where the Wind Blows" from Atlantic Records, 1996.

In 2008 Ramsay appeared on five episodes of Dexter as attorney Ellen Wolf.
