Anglet (Gascon Occitan Anglet , Basque Angelu ) is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in Aquitaine in southwestern France . The town's name is pronounced [ãglet]; i.e. with the final 't' sounded, unusually for French .
Anglet lies in the traditional province of Labourd in Gascony , and its townspeople are known as Angloys .
Geography
The river Adour enters the Atlantic between here and Tarnos .
A pine forest covers 10% of the town (primarily in the Pignada, Lazaret and Chiberta areas).
The sandy coast which commences 200 km to the North at the Pointe de Grave , the end of the Gironde estuary , ends here. Numerous dikes mark the Anglet shoreline.
