Aegilops cylindrica is a species of grass known by the common name jointed goatgrass. It is native to the Mediterranean Basin and western Asia. Elsewhere it is best known as a noxious weed.123

Goatgrass can interbreed with species of wheat, and common wheat owes its high tolerance for cold to its partial goatgrass ancestry; the same is true of close relative spelt.
