1979 Sakharov (2006 P-L) is a Main-belt Asteroid discovered on 24 September 1960 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld at Palomar Observatory. It is named in honour of a distinguished Russian physicist Andrei Sakharov.
