Águeda (pron. IPA: ['agɨdɐ]) is a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 335.3 km² and a total population of 49,456 inhabitants, and 41,022 electors (2006). The city proper has a population of 14,504.[1]
The municipality is composed of 20 parishes, and is located in the District of Aveiro, in Baixo Vouga subregion. Main rivers: Vouga, Águeda, Certoma. Lagoon: Fermentelos. The present Mayor is Gil Nadais Resende da Fonseca, elected by the Socialist Party.
The municipal holiday is the Monday after the Whitsun.
